Does this girl like me? X/10
Rate:
Dear Hot Girl,

My name is Michael and Im 18. Theres this girl that I really like, and we're pretty good friends. Ive wanted to tell her how I feel about her for a long time, but things are getting complicated. My good friend told me that he likes her a little while back, he doesnt know that I like her too. This girl flirts with me and my friend alot, we all have a class together. My friend flirts with her and makes it pretty obvious that he likes her, but she like jokingly rejects him. Recently she seems to be acting different towards me tho, like when she would "turn down" my friend she would say something like " Me and Michael are going out." and smile and grab my arm in a kind of joking way, she's said that at least 3 times... We make eye contact 5-6 times during the class almost every day, I just look into her eyes and she looks back into mine. We sit right next to each other and she has been grabbing my hand and touching me alot to get me to look at stuff in a book etc. Just the other day she said something like "Proms only in like 2 months..." while we were "wrestling" over a ruler and flirting. It seems like she's dropping hints that she likes me but I can't tell, and I'm afraid to tell her how I feel because I dont want to ruin my friendship with her and my other friend, if she doesnt like me more than a friend. I don't know what to do, please help. I really like this girl a lot.

Michael.
Dear Michael,

Based on how you've described her actions, odds are she really does like you and wants you to notice her. Women tend to be instinctively a little bit more giggly, smiley and relaxed around the guys they're crushing on, and we'll also try to make as much split-second eye contact and as much nonchalant, "accidental" body contact with the object of our affection. (Hey, don't blame us... it's part psychological, part trashy-teen-magazine dating advice.)

My guess is that she's probably figured out that your friend likes her, and she's been him off as nicely and gently as possible because she doesn't feel the same way. But as long as your friend still has feelings for her and has come right out and told you so, it's not a good idea to try to pursue a relationship with her, knowing how he feels.

Being someone who considers direct honesty the best policy, I think the best thing for you to do would be to go to your friend and tell him, "Look, we're good friends and I want you to know that our friendship is important to me, so I'm going to be honest with you. I'm pretty sure that [girl] likes me, and I was thinking of maybe asking her to go to a movie with me or something, but if it's going to make you think less of me as a friend, you have to tell me, coz I don't want to ruin our friendship and have a girl come between us." Hopefully your buddy will tell you that it's ok, but if it's not, try to respect his feelings, at least for a couple weeks. He'll need this time to re-evaluate his feelings for this girl, examine how much your friendship means to him, and who knows, he might develop a crush on someone else during this time. And maybe you'll also have a chance to decide where your priorities lie, too.

Good luck!
